Author Stephen King will appear in the second-season premiere of CBS’s “Under the Dome,” which is based on his book. King also wrote the first episode of the new season, which moves past the story in the book.
Sandra Carter Collyer, a longtime TV producer and distributor, died last week at age 73 after battling cancer. Through her company, Sandra Carter Productions, Collyer produced branded shows with the magazines Better Homes and Gardens and Essence. She also produced a series featuring writers and editors from The Hollywood Reporter.
Droga5 has brought in Emily Hodkins as director of communications, replacing the departed Maura McGreevy. Hodkins was previously communications manager at 72andSunny.
Marco Monteiro, Ana Carolina Reis, Guy Helm and Chris Rodriguez have all joined TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, becoming creative directors. Monteiro and Reis join from AlmapBBDO, Helm from Mistress and Rodriguez from FCB LA.
Jonathan Byrne has been named a creative director at DDB, working in the agency’s San Francisco office. Byrne was previously at Venables Bell & Partners, where he was also a creative director.
Bloomberg Media has named Adam Freeman managing director for the Europe, the Middle East and Africa [EMEA] region, working out of London. Freeman was previously at the digital ad company Mutual Media, which he founded.
After all the talk about The New York Times poaching a Guardian editor to become digital managing editor, it’s actually the Guardian doing the poaching. The Guardian has named Aron Pilhofe executive editor of digital, a newly created position at the newspaper. Pilhofe had been associated managing editor for digital strategy at The New York Times.
TVGN has made two additions, naming Melissa Stone Mangham vice president of marketing and brand strategy and Rich Browd vice president and creative director. Stone Mangham joins from NBCUniversal, Browd from MTV Networks.
Production company Anonymous Content has named Johnathan Wright co-head of West Coast sales and marketing, working alongside Lisa Sabatino. Wright has previously held positions at Team One Advertising, Shortlist Management and Tool.
Metallica singer James Hetfield has signed with History to narrate its upcoming series “The Hunt,” which premieres June 8. The series follows a group of hunters tracking Kodiak brown bears in Alaska.
Mashable has named Louise Roug global news editor, a new position at the technology news site. Roug joins from Newsweek/The Daily Beast, where she was foreign editor.
Herb Hofmann has been named vice president of sales for the Midwest at Focus 360, which handles radio, digital and mobile ad sales. Hofmann was previously national accounts manager and director of sales at CBS Radio Networks/Westwood One.
