Tracey Ullman is making a TV comeback, and it will be on CBS. Ullman has joined the network’s comedy pilot “Good Session,” playing a relationship therapist. “Psych” actor James Roday has been cast as the male lead. Ullman has most recently made a pair of guest appearances on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother.”
Fox has promoted two, naming Jessica Fang senior vice president of distribution and national accounts and David Espinosa senior vice president of distribution and strategic analysis. Fang has been with Fox since 2002, Espinosa since 2006.
Bounce TV has promoted Elverage Allen to executive vice president of advertising sales, replacing the departed Dennis Ray. Allen was previously in charge of the network’s Central region sales.
ABC has added Sharon Gless to its comedy pilot “Saint Francis,” which stars former “Sopranos” actor Michael Imperioli. Gless won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her role on the old drama “Cagney & Lacey.”
Cleveland agency Brokaw has brought in Renee Alexander, naming her digital and social media director. Alexander was most recently at Rosetta.
Speaking of Rosetta, Paul Smith has joined Rosetta as UK technology lead, reporting to chief technology officer Joe Lozito and Rosetta Europe managing director Sebastian Dreyfus. Smith joins from Sceneric, and before that he was at Demand247.
A&E has promoted Mark Apter to senior vice president of program planning and acquisitions, reporting to executive vice president and general manager David McKillop. Apter was most recently vice president.
AMC Networks has made a pair of promotions, naming Cliff Bail senior vice president and deputy general counsel and Aileen Brophy senior vice president of legal and business affairs. Bail was previously senior vice president of corporate legal and Brophy was vice president of legal and business affairs.
Local ad sales rep firm Viamedia has named Jonathan Sims vice president of media research, in charge of the company’s research departments. Sims was previously vice president of product management at TRA.
NBC News’ Willie Geist will host Discovery’s upcoming special “Everest Jump Live,” in which mountain climber Joby Ogwyn will become the first person to jump off the summit of Mount Everest with a wingsuit. Geist will broadcast from New York along with Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore, while Chris Jacobs and Kyle Martino will give live updates from Everest.
Fox Sports has promoted Pete Vlastelica, naming him executive vice president of digital. Vlastelica has been with the company since 2010, most recently as senior vice president.
Gayle Tzemach Lemmon and Sarah Chayes have joined Defense One, becoming contributors at the online publication. Lemmon will cover national security in the Middle East and Chayes will write about corruption in military hot spots around the world.
Borrell Associates has named Corey Elliott director of research, beginning in the first week of April. Elliott joins from Gannett, where he was director of market intelligence.
