Christine Portela has been named director of news operations at Univision Station Group, based in Miami and reporting to senior vice president of Univision local media television Chris Peña. Portela was previously a senior producer at MSNBC, and she also worked with Telemundo.
Louisa Bayles has been named head of TV and digital sales at StudioCanal, in charge of Australia and New Zealand. Bayles was previously vice president of Pacific Rim sales at ITV Studios.
Distribution company Entertainment One has brought in Julia Silverton, naming her senior vice president of development for alternative programming. Silverton joins from CMT, where she was vice president of development.
NBC News has brought in Maya Rodríguez as Miami correspondent, covering the southern U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. Rodríguez was previously a reporter at the Denver NBC affiliate KUSA.
Natalia Tena and Jake Matthews have joined the cast of CBS’s drama pilot “Wisdom of the Crowd,” which stars Jeremy Piven. Tena previously appeared on “Game of Thrones,” Matthews on “Bosch.”
Jacqueline Obradors has joined the cast of FX’s drama pilot “Mayans MC,” a spinoff of “Sons of Anarchy.” Obradors most recently appeared on “Lopez.”
CP+B has named Sabina Hesse creative director in its Los Angeles office, working on the agency’s PayPal account. Hesse was previously a creative director at HEIMAT in Berlin.
Marketing and public relations firm Androvett Legal Media & Marketing has named Jason Sickles legal media consultant, effective immediately. Sickles was previously a senior national reporter at Yahoo News.
Beckon, which produces marketing software, has named Bernardo de Albergaria chief executive officer. He replaces co-founder Jennifer Zeszut, who becomes chief customer officer. De Albergaria was previously vice president and general manager at Atlassian.
David Steinberg, a longtime journalist and former chief executive officer of PR Newswire, died earlier this month at age 85 of complications from surgery. Steinberg was president and CEO at PR Newswire for 16 years until he left the position in 1992. He was also vice chairman of PR Newswire and chairman of Canada Newswire until 2002.
