These days when Bruce Springsteen does something, he does it big. Springsteen gave a rare radio interview on Tuesday night, sitting down with Jim Kerr for “The iHeartRadio Album Preview,” an hour-long special that aired on 100 of Clear Channel’s classic rock and alternative stations. In the interview Springsteen talked about the making of his latest album “High Hopes,” which was released on Tuesday. As a part of the stunt, Clear Channel will run Springsteen-related content on both broadcast and digital for the next two weeks.
Entertainment marketing company MerryMedia has brought in Petros Tagvoryan, naming him director of radio promotions and special projects. Tagvoryan previously worked as a freelance promotion executive.
Digital, social media and public relations agency Horn Group has brought in Debra Raine as principal, working in the company’s San Francisco office. Rain was previously principal at BondPR Worldwide.
Local media research firm BIA/Kelsey has made a handful of moves, including hiring Abid Chaudhry as senior director of industry strategy and insight. Chaudhry has previously held positions at Transition Local Media Research, Talus Labs, AT&T and Intelligenx. BIA/Kelsey has also brought in Meshach Cisero and Rebecca Weingartner, naming them associate analysts. Cisero previously worked at IBM and Coastar Group, while Weingartner joins from Zoetis.
Marketing research company Advertiser Perceptions has promoted Kevin Mannion to chief strategy officer, a newly created position. Mannion was previously executive vice president of consulting.
Howard Levy, a longtime syndication sales executive at Disney/ABC, is retiring from the company at the end of this month. Levy has been with the Disney/ABC for 24 years, and he’s also a former chairman of the Syndicated Network Television Association. With Levy’s exit, Irv Schulman will take over the role of senior vice president of syndication sales.
Tribune Co. has named Kathy Clements chief operating officer for Tribune Broadcasting, reporting to president of broadcast media Larry Wert. Clements was previously senior vice president of media operations at Belo Corp.
Mnet America, a cable network and web site targeting Asian Americans, has promoted Sang H. Cho to president and chief executive officer, taking over for Ted Kim. Cho was previously chief operating officer.
Newspaper company Digital First Media has promoted Steven Rossi to chief operating officer, effective immediately. Rossi had been executive vice president, and he’s also chief executive at the California Newspapers Partnership.
Jill Byron has been named senior vice president of marketing at Glam Media, which publishes a handful of web sites. Byron joins from CBS Interactive, where she was vice president of marketing.
Evolve Media, a digital publishing company, has brought in Geoff Schiller as chief revenue officer, a new position at the company. Schiller had been chief sales officer at Hearst Digital Media.
Mobile video advertising company AdColony has made two hires, naming Sky Holden senior vice president of advertising sales and Matt Barash vice president of business development. Holden joins from Velocity Made Good, Barash from SessionM.
